At the Threshold of an Era (創世紀)

A big family and business saga about brothers, rivals and the shifting fortunes of Hong Kong. It starts small and grows into something close to a modern epic. I was drawn in by the way old grudges keep returning.

The scale is large, with many characters and long arcs. Some stretches are slow, but the major turns pay off. I found the portrayal of ambition both thrilling and sad.

Eighty episodes are a serious investment. I took it in chunks over two months. It is a good companion to the other great family sagas.
