Instinct (笑看風雲)

A family chronicle that spans several decades of change in the city. It is more reflective than most, and the title suits the mood. I liked the sense of time moving under the characters.

The scenes are quiet and the acting is subtle. There are fewer twists than in other sagas, which gives the show a calm centre. A couple of episodes drift, but the whole is rewarding.

Thirty episodes will fit into a few weeks. It is a gentle option when the louder sagas feel exhausting. A show to take slowly.
